16 May Author Visit for Paddington, Wild Things and BFGs
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1969 moon landing and to promote the launch of his new book ‘It’s one Giant leek for Mankind’ stand up comedian, author and illustrator Olaf Falafel embarked on a dangerous mission of his own – staging workshops at 50 schools in 50 days!!!
We were fortunate enough to be one of those lucky schools and on Monday 13th May we had great fun meeting him in Rode.
Olaf had adults and children in hysterics from the go! As children shyly trundled into the hall not knowing what to expect, they quickly all began to giggle at his amazing welcome illustrations and new straight away that they were in for a real treat.
Olaf read his fabulous new story which started off faithfully documenting the historic events of 1969, when all of a sudden we were hearing about giant vegetables, Moon Baboons and lots of musical Parping!!!
It was a real treat of a Lunar adventure that everyone found extremely funny.
A particularly favourite part of his workshop was the session on Synonyms!!!
He was definitely an inspiration to many, especially to all our budding ‘wannabe’ author/illustrators.
We were so pleased that Olaf made the long journey to visit us and give us all such a giggle on a Monday morning.
