11 Mar Elmer and Paddington’s Class Trip to the Fleet Air Arm Museum
Elmer and Paddington’s classes had an amazing adventure at the Fleet Air Arm Museum, where they explored the fascinating world of flight!
One of the highlights was spotting a plane very similar to the Wright Flyer, designed by the Short brothers. The children were thrilled to recognise it as an early aircraft, identifying the materials and fabrics used in its construction. Their excitement and knowledge about early aviation were fantastic to see.
As we continued through the museum, we got to walk inside navy helicopters, explore a replica navy ship, and learn about life on board. The children were fascinated by what it would be like to live and work on a ship at sea.
We also had the chance to step inside Concorde, seeing its sleek design up close! The children loved comparing all the different aircraft styles and even got to try on pilot overalls, which made for some brilliant photo moments.
A particularly exciting moment was watching a real helicopter take off—an unforgettable sight! Throughout the trip, it was wonderful to hear the children’s knowledge of flight as they made connections with what they had learned in class.
