07 Oct National Poetry Day
On Thursday 3rd October it was National Poetry Day and children across both sites immersed themselves in the wonderful world of poetry! In BFG Class, children had a go at translating some of the tricky words in The Jabberwocky. In Elmer Class, children wrote acrostic poems about Harvest and Autumn, learnt a poem to read out at their Harvest Festival and read lots of poetry books.
Alongside this, some very excited Year 3 children were very busy learning poems off by heart in preparation for our Poetry by Heart launch in the New Year. If you have a child in Year 3 or Year 4 who would like the opportunity to perform in-front of the rest of the school, and enter the poetry competition, then take a look at last years winning entries and performances and keep a look-out for our very own Maddie who performed ‘Waterfall’s song’ by Zaro Weil at the Globe Theatre in July. We do have a lot of exciting things planned for our big Poetry Week in January so watch this space!
