27 Jun Online Safety Week
Last week the children took part in our exciting Online Safety Week. The key focus of the week was to celebrate the many positives of the internet, and to raise awareness of the issues that children and young people face online today. The children took part in many different activities – from keeping their own screen diary to learning about how to keep their personal information private! The children particularly enjoyed our ‘fake news’ lesson where they had to research a website, write down all the interesting facts they could find and present this to the class. The bombshell was then dropped that the website was fake and everything they had researched was not actually true! After this, we talked about reliability and how some things you see online may be out of date, inaccurate or not entirely true. The children finished their week by creating posters explaining how you can be SMART online and tips on how to have a healthy balance between activities online and activities offline.
If you would like any further information about this, or any advice regarding staying safe online, then please check our website online safety page.
