09 Dec Paddington Trip to Trowbridge Museum
Paddington Class had a fantastic trip to Trowbridge Museum, where they participated in four engaging workshops focused on the weaving process and fabric materials. The children learned about the basics of weaving by creating chequerboard patterns in the “Warp and Weft” session, explored fabric patterns like twill and tartan, practiced sewing with 19th-century samplers, and discovered the science of materials in clothing. The hands-on activities helped them connect historical and scientific concepts to everyday life, and they were able to take home their woven pieces as souvenirs. The children were fantastically well-behaved, engaged, and thoroughly enjoyed the day, making it an excellent learning experience for everyone.
A big thank you must be said to our wonderful volunteers, Mrs Adam and Mrs Matthews, and our fantastic minibus driver, Mr Searle! Thank you also to those parents who dropped their children off at the museum in the morning.
