21 Jun Pirates Invade Bowood
Gruffalo and Elmer Classes had a fantastic day on Tuesday, lots of very happy faces and that was just the adults!
The weather was kind and we didn’t really get wet.
After arriving we set off to the Tractor Ted Farm where there were ride-on tractors, various things to climb in, lots of animals, a mummy sow and 3 piglets, baby calves, rabbits, guinea pigs, chicks, alpacas and rabbits.
We continued around the grounds searching for our lost pirate ship. We headed through a beautiful woodland area where there were specimen trees from around the world. We measured their trunks with our arm-span and climbed the best ones.
Continuing down the hill we discovered the lake, grotto and a stalactite cave. We broke into groups to explore the grottos, a dark tunnel, waterfall and stepping stones. Then across the lawn full of Canada Geese, past the big house and through the beautiful formal rose gardens. Here we took the time to smell all the different coloured flowers. Lunch back at the Bothy and then a fantastic hour and a half in the adventure playground and on the huge pirate ship.
Occasionally people got stuck but they were quickly rescued and then it was the adults who were scared and couldn’t get down! Everyone overcame their fears and conquered the playground by the end. It was so lovely to see them all achieving and proud of themselves.
Everyone looked absolutely amazing in their outfits, thank you for going to such trouble. The other visitors were terrified! On the bus back we heard children saying “That was the best day of my life!’ and “I wish we could go to Bowood every day!”
