27 Sep SIAMS Inspection Reports
Innovative, inspiring, creative, inclusive, ambitious and exceptional are just some of the words used to describe Rode and Norton School Federation in their most recent ‘Excellent’ inspection report. Lyn Field, SIAMS Inspector commented, “The schools take one innovative step after another” and as a result “pupils and adults flourish exceptionally well.” “The rich and inspiring curriculum, which is innovative and an outstanding model, cultivates a deep curiosity about the world because it is truly child-led.”
Particularly noteworthy for the inspector was that, “Pupils have high aspirations for themselves and for others and are equipped with the skills and motivation to transform the lives of others as well as their own. Impressively, experience has already given them a passion for justice and taught them to consider ethical issues of exploitation and deprivation which is exceptional for their age.” She added, “It is easy to forget the young age of the pupils as they talk with huge empathy of the needs of others.”
Carolyn Tommey, Executive Headteacher, commented, “I am delighted that both schools have been graded as excellent in this most recent inspection. I am particularly pleased that the inspector recognised our innovative and unique approach to learning, the way our pupils’ love coming to school where they have opportunities to ask questions, challenge their own thinking and advocate change where it is needed; real little Greta Thunbergs in the making! Rode Methodist VC First School and Norton St Philip CofE First School are indeed inspirational and exhilarating places to explore, discover, create and, of course, flourish!”
