05 Feb Wonderful Words Week
Across the whole school children thrilled us with their writing and ideas last week. Monday was poetry day and we learnt poems by heart, to perform on Friday, along with writing our own. Elmer Class wrote a fabulously scary wolf poem. Ask them to recite it from memory at home! They and Gruffalo Class were inspired by a visit from Longleat vet Chris Mangham, who works with wolves, amongst many other animals. He brought in a collection of huge skulls and bones which they were, of course, fascinated by!
We are extremely grateful for the guitar that was donated to FRANS by Coldplay and raised an amazing £3500. I have invited the children to write thank you letters. We are looking for neatly written, well-presented letters on smart paper with interesting content. This is a homework challenge and the children have until Monday 19th February to submit their letters. The best letters will be sent to the band. Good luck!
We were excited to end Wonderful Word Week by launching this year’s Poetry By Heart Competition. This is a national competition and we were extremely lucky to have one of our children, Caspar, perform in the national finals at the Globe Theatre last year. Fingers crossed we can do it again! The competition is open to all year 3 and 4 children and details are listed further down the newsletter.
